Why practice yoga?

Your intentions in practicing yoga may be to improve your flexibility, increase your strength, release chronic holding patterns, prevent pain and "dis-ease". balance the systems of your body, train your mind to be focused and calm even when in stressful situations or just because you feel good afterwards. Your objectives may even change from time to time. What is important is that you practice on a regular basis to develop positive and long term benefits.

Is yoga for me?

Yoga is for every body, whether you are extremely athletic or flexible or if you have chronic pain or you can hardly get out of your chair, it’s okay. Yoga sessions can be perfectly suited for you. Practitioners are encouraged to tune in to the needs of their bodies and honor those needs, both in class and out.

What happens in a yoga class?

Each yoga class or session will vary slightly depending on the goals, needs and abilities of the participants. A typical session may include working with the breath (pranayama); flowing gently from pose to pose, allowing the body to warm up; some classes are geared to the more athletic and include stronger and quicker transitions; deeper stretches are held allowing for a release of tight muscles; we practice bringing balance to the body; sometimes a particular pose or series of poses will be highlighted. Perhaps most importantly the class will conclude with a relaxation period.

What are the advantages of private yoga instruction?

Yoga instruction, guided relaxation and meditation sessions are available to help you to deepen your already existing practice, relax deeper into poses, learn proper form and positioning or develop a personalized routine specifically designed to create balance in your body.

Does yoga work well in an office environment?

Corporate wellness programs absolutely benefit from on-site yoga programs. Employees can get a stress relieving break in the middle of the day leaving them refreshed, more productive and ready to do their jobs well. Yoga offers an opportunity to exercise without necessarily breaking a sweat or even needing to change clothes. Breathwork and goal setting visualizations help executives to relax and focus prior to important events. Specific programs can be implemented to meet the needs of your business.
